CREATING COMMUNITY

Parents’ Association

The Summit School Parents’ Association (PA) is dedicated to supporting the strong sense of community that Summit fosters among its students, teachers, and families.

We are a diverse group with families hailing from all five boroughs of New York City as well as Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties. In a spirit of partnership and inclusiveness, the PA maintains an active welcoming environment for all Summit families and students throughout the school year.

Working in tandem with the school administration, we play a vital role in the life of the school in many key ways.

What makes a great school even greater? A strong parents’ association.

What makes a parents’ association strong? Involved parents!

At Summit, you’ll find both. We come together in many ways, contributing time and resources, as well as helping organize events. We welcome any level of commitment you can offer. Please don’t underestimate what you can bring to the table. Think the Summit way and identify your own unique talents and skills.

Spirit Events

We organize many outings during which students can socialize outside of the school setting. From trips to New York area attractions, to our family ice skating party or fishing trip, to attending sporting events, to getting together for a movie afternoon — these activities promote the Summit spirit and help students form stronger connections with each other. All of our PA-sponsored events are announced via special edition eBlasts with online registration.

Parent and Student Education

The PA organizes guest lectures and educational workshops on a variety of topics that are top of mind for parents. In addition, we host informal gatherings for parents in the spring and fall to share ideas, talk about common issues, and get to know each other. For students, we underwrite school assemblies and help organize and host our annual book fair at the Lower School and a College/Transition Fair at the Upper School.

Membership in the PA is an investment that will enhance your whole family’s experience at Summit. It’s the best investment you can make! Only with everyone’s involvement can we continue to keep Summit a great school – that’s why we’re here – and also provide the social and learning opportunities that supplement our children’s academic experiences.

Select the membership option that works best for you and your family or make your own. Membership Levels: $120 for Gold; $80 for Silver (Recommended); $40 for Bronze; or Other.

Ways to
get involved

There are so many ways you can lend your support and we are always in need of more volunteers. Your involvement not only assures the ongoing success of Summit but sends an important message to your children — that you care about and support their education and social development.

In addition to our active executive board, there are a number of committees for specific events and projects — from book fairs to improving technology and communication. Class parents also play an important role by supporting teachers, arranging class events, and serving as liaisons between other parents and the staff.

Volunteering is a wonderful way to get more connected to Summit. If you are interested in serving as a PA officer or on one of our committees, or becoming a class parent, please contact us at pa@summitqueens.com.
