Many of our students have already visited Summit before attending, taking time to meet the staff, walk the halls, and connect with other students. This ensures that when they arrive, they’re not walking into an unfamiliar space. There’s always someone they know, fostering a sense of comfort and belonging from day one.
The people at Summit are more than just friendly—everyone knows each other by name. This creates a strong support system that truly cares about each individual’s success. Students coming from larger schools often express how challenging it was to get individual attention in classrooms of 30 to 40 students. Here, our class sizes are much smaller, typically around 12 students, allowing for personalized instruction and attention.
With approximately 150 students in total, Summit provides a close-knit, inclusive environment. Unlike larger schools that may prioritize grades, we focus on understanding and supporting our students’ needs. If students are struggling, feeling anxious, or just need help, there’s always someone willing to offer guidance and support.
One of the defining characteristics of The Summit School is that every student here is a special needs student. This shared experience fosters an environment free from the typical prejudices, bullying, and pressures that can exist in larger public schools. At Summit, students feel understood, surrounded by peers who share similar journeys. There’s no judgment, just respect, empathy, and support.
New students quickly discover how approachable and dedicated our faculty is, and how committed we are to helping them succeed. It’s inspiring to watch as students who may feel uncertain at first begin to thrive, recognizing that they are in a place where their growth is nurtured. They shine as they settle into a community where kindness and connection are at the heart of everything we do.
At Summit, every student’s journey is valued. Our personal approach ensures that each individual receives the attention and care they need. For many students, this is the first time they’ve been surrounded by like-minded peers, creating a true sense of belonging.
Our students aren’t just classmates—they are friends who support each other with compassion and kindness. The empathy they show is remarkable, and it’s clear that their experiences before arriving here have shaped their ability to care for one another. This cycle of kindness defines The Summit School’s culture, making it more than just a place to learn—it’s a community where every student is seen, supported, and set up to succeed.
